1024×768 vs 800×600 - Is 1024px the new standard for Web Design?

Over the last couple years we have gotten mixed responses from our users on whats the right resolution to design a a site around. So I recently went back to figure out once and for all if designing around 800px made sense anymore. It’s not like we keep track of this on a daily basis. As with the new UltraShock and TheFWA most sites now support 1024px format or higher. So is it even worth caring about 800px anymore?
We didn’t have to look too far for evidence, it clearly shown in our Google Analytics reports.

We have been chosen again this year and are honored to be on the the judging panel for the FWA Site of the Year 2007. It’s also the sixth year for the People’s Choice Award (PCA) and will be decided by FWA visitors and FWA newsletter members.

Robert Neville (Will Smith) is a brilliant scientist, but even he could not contain the terrible virus that was unstoppable, incurable…and man-made. Tycho Releases New Single “The Daydream”

Tycho’s first single from Ghostly was released on December, 11th, 2007. “The Daydream” is a brand new track from the forthcoming album, the album being due in mid 2008.
